Heritage Christian
Heritage Christian is a place where young people are encouraged to discover what they love, develop the gifts God has given them, work hard, compete with character, and pursue excellence alongside people who care about who they become.
Building HERITAGE
A Place to Discover, Develop, and Excel
Heritage Christian began with a desire to create meaningful opportunities for young people — opportunities to work hard, stretch themselves, build relationships, face challenges, celebrate success, learn through failure, and grow because they were part of something that expected their best.
We believe gifts are worth discovering, but discovery is only the beginning. Ability grows through discipline, effort, accountability, perseverance, coaching, practice, and the willingness to keep improving.
That is true on a baseball field, at a rifle range, on a court, around a chessboard, in a workshop, in a classroom, or anywhere else a young person finds something worth pursuing.
Come ready to care about what you do, work for it, and keep getting better.
Coach Clay
Coach Clay founded Heritage Christian because he believed young people deserved opportunities to be challenged, encouraged, supported, and given room to grow into the gifts God placed within them.
He loved competition. He expected effort. He valued character. But the reason people loved Coach Clay went far beyond wins, practices, or what happened on a scoreboard.
Coach Clay invested in people. He taught, encouraged, fixed, built, worked, listened, laughed, stayed late, and stepped in wherever something needed to be done. He gave his time freely and often did the jobs no one else noticed because the work mattered and the people mattered.
Heritage Christian was built by Coach Clay and his family in the most literal sense. Fields were worked. Uniforms were cut, weeded, pressed, and made. Equipment was repaired. Problems were solved. Countless hours of labor were given so that more of the program’s resources could remain focused on the young people it served.
Service was never merely something Coach Clay talked about. It was the way he lived. Baseball remained at the center of that life until the very end — Coach Clay spent his last full day on earth at the ballfield coaching.
Coach Clay is not simply a name connected to Heritage Christian. His example continues to shape the standard, the ministry, the relationships, and the opportunities we are building today.
Discover Coach ClayIt Began With Baseball
Baseball was Coach Clay’s passion long before Heritage Christian existed. It was a love he first shared with his father, Coach Wingard, who coached him as a young player.
In his senior season — the final year of his high school baseball career — Coach Clay won the Dizzy Dean World Series with his father, Coach Wingard, serving as head coach. He finished that chapter of his playing career as a world champion, with the man who had helped teach him the game leading the team.
From that family tradition grew HC Baseball, the heart, foundation, and flagship of Heritage Christian Athletics.
What grew around the game was always bigger than baseball: responsibility, resilience, hard work, relationships, laughter, service, competition, and a place where young people could succeed, fail, learn, recover, and try again.
What It Means to Be an Angel
Wearing HC means more than joining a roster or putting on a uniform. It means becoming part of a heritage built by people who worked, served, competed, sacrificed, celebrated, and cared deeply about what they were leaving for those who came next.
Being an Angel means pursuing your own gifts with purpose while understanding that the way you work, compete, respond, serve, and treat people becomes part of what HC carries forward.
Excel
Prepare with purpose, work hard, compete seriously, and keep reaching for better. Excellence is not about never failing — it is about refusing to waste the gifts and opportunities you have been given.
Grow
Success teaches us something. So do mistakes, setbacks, responsibility, teamwork, adversity, and recovery. We want Angels to grow as competitors, teammates, leaders, and people others can depend on.
Heritage
Someone worked to build what you get to be part of today. Honor what came before, contribute while it is yours, and leave something meaningful for the Angels who follow.
Heritage Christian School
Heritage Christian School was created to support families who choose to homeschool while still giving their children opportunities to enjoy many of the positive experiences that come from being connected to a school community.
Families retain the freedom and flexibility of homeschooling while having opportunities for educational support, athletics, clubs, activities, play days, friendships, shared experiences, and a place to connect with other students and families.
